I have the HP app in my computer, I doesn't find my printer. Also the lights don't all turn on. is there a symbol to show that it's connected on the printer itself? I don't see the icon

Hi @MrBurg,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP ENVY Pro 6455 All-in-One Printer might be having connectivity issues, which could be related to both the software (HP app) and the printer's hardware (lights and buttons). Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the problem.
Check Printer Connectivity Status
- Wi-Fi Indicator Light: On the printer, there should be a Wi-Fi icon (typically on the control panel). When the printer is connected to a network, this light should be solid blue. If it's flashing, the printer is trying to connect to the network.
- i Button (Information Button): When you press and hold the "i" button, it should generate a network configuration page, which will provide details about the printer's network status.
Restart Your Printer
- Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve minor connectivity issues.
Ensure Your Printer is Connected to Wi-Fi
- Reconnect to Wi-Fi: Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the light next to it starts blinking. Then, press the WPS button on your router within two minutes. This should reconnect your printer to the network.
- Use HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart app on your computer, and ensure your printer is on the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. Use the app to reconnect your printer to Wi-Fi if needed.
Update Printer Firmware
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes connectivity issues are resolved by updating the firmware. You can do this through the HP Smart app or by downloading the latest firmware from the HP support website.
Check for Software Updates
- Ensure the HP Smart app on your computer is up to date. Sometimes, the app may not detect the printer due to outdated software.
Reinstall the HP Smart App
- If the HP Smart app is still not detecting your printer, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app on your computer.

Hard Reset the Printer
- If none of the above steps work, you might need to perform a hard reset. To do this, turn off the printer, unplug it, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
Factory Reset the Printer
- As a last resort, you can try a factory reset. Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button on the printer simultaneously for about 5 seconds until the printer restarts. This will reset the printer’s network settings, and you’ll need to reconnect it to Wi-Fi.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
