Hi @Wowntgo2024,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
If your HP Color LaserJet Pro M255dw is set up, and your PC (running Windows 11) says everything is okay, but the printer doesn't respond when you send a print job, here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Check Printer Status:
- Steps:
- Make sure the printer is turned on and ready.
- Check the printer's control panel for any error messages or warnings (e.g., paper jams, low toner).
2. Restart Printer and PC:
- Sometimes, simply restarting the devices can resolve communication issues.
- Steps:
- Turn off the printer, wait for 30 seconds, and turn it back on.
- Restart your PC.
3. Check Connection:
- Wi-Fi Connection:
- Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your PC.
- Steps:
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > Network Setup to verify the Wi-Fi connection.
- Run a network test from the printer to ensure it's connected properly.
- USB Connection:
- If you're using a USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the PC.
- Ethernet Connection:
- If connected via Ethernet, make sure the cable is properly connected to both the printer and the router.
4. Set Printer as Default:
- Make sure the HP Color LaserJet Pro M255dw is set as the default printer on your PC.
- Steps:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Click on your printer, and select Set as default.
5. Clear Print Queue:
- Sometimes, jobs stuck in the print queue can cause issues.
- Steps:
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your printer and select See what's printing.
- If there are jobs in the queue, right-click on each and select Cancel.
- Try printing again.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Wowntgo2024,
Please find the next steps below.
6. Update Printer Drivers:
- Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer.
- Steps:
- Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
- Download and install the latest drivers for Windows 11.
7. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- This tool can help diagnose and fix common printing issues.
- Steps:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to troubleshoot the problem.
8. Check for Windows 11 Updates:
- Ensure that your Windows 11 installation is up to date.
- Steps:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.
- Install any available updates and restart your PC if necessary.
9. Reinstall Printer:
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the printer can sometimes resolve configuration issues.
- Steps:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Click on your printer, select Remove device.
- Restart your PC, then reinstall the printer using the latest drivers.
10. Test with Another Device:
- If possible, try printing from another device (e.g., another PC or a mobile device) to see if the issue is specific to your Windows 11 PC.
If you've tried all these steps and the printer still doesn't respond, there may be a deeper issue with the printer's hardware or network connection. In that case, contacting HP phone support for further assistance would be recommended.
