Hi @BJacobi54,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
To connect your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w printer to a new Wi-Fi network, you will need to reset the printer’s network settings and then set up the Wi-Fi connection again. Here are the steps to do this:
1. Reset Network Settings
- Turn on the Printer:
- Ensure your printer is powered on.
- Restore Network Settings:
- Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button together for about 5 seconds. This will reset the network settings to default.
2. Reconnect to Wi-Fi Network
There are two methods to reconnect your printer to the Wi-Fi network: using the HP Smart app or the WPS method.
Method 1: Using HP Smart App
Download HP Smart App:
- Ensure you have the HP Smart app installed on your smartphone or computer. If not, you can download it from the HP website or the app store.
Open HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app and click on the Plus sign (+) to add a new printer.
Follow the On-Screen Instructions:
- The app will guide you through the setup process. When prompted, select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
Method 2: Using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)
Start WPS Push Button Mode on the Printer:
- Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the wireless light starts blinking. This indicates that WPS push button mode is active.
Activate WPS on Your Router:
- Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your router. The router and printer will attempt to connect automatically.
Wait for Connection:
- Wait until the wireless light on the printer stops blinking and remains solid, indicating a successful connection.
3. Verify the Connection
Print a Configuration Page:
- You can print a configuration page to verify the connection. Press and hold the Resume button (the button with the triangle) until the ready light starts blinking, then release the button.
Check the Wi-Fi Status:
- The configuration page will show the network status and confirm if the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
4. Reinstall Printer Software (if needed)
Download Printer Software:
- If necessary, download the latest printer software and drivers from the HP Support website.
Install Software:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software and add the printer to your computer.
By following these steps, you should be able to connect your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w printer to your new Wi-Fi network. If you encounter any issues, I recommend you contact phone support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
