When I scan a document to email  I get a message saying email can't be found and to set it in the default app. don't know where / how to do that. Used to work fine, haven't changed email provider.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:  

Use the HP Smart app to email a scanned document or photo.

  1. Set up your personal email account with the pre-installed Mail app on your computer.

    • Windows: Open the Mail app, click Settings, and then click Manage accounts > Add account. Select your service provider, and then enter your email address and account password to complete the setup.

  2. Open the HP Smart app. If you do not have HP Smart, download it from 123.hp.com or your app store.

  3. Click the Scan tile on the home screen.

  4. Select an option from the top menu bar.
