Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're having trouble using the HP Smart app with your new HP 4301FDw printer, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Check Network Connection:
- Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer or mobile device. If the printer is connected to a different network, the HP Smart app may not recognize it.
Restart Devices:
- Restart both your printer and the device you're using with HP Smart. This can help refresh connections.
Update HP Smart App:
- Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your device. Check the app store for updates.
Add Printer Manually:
- Open the HP Smart app and try adding the printer manually:
- Click on the plus (+) icon to add a new printer.
- Follow the prompts to connect to the printer.
Check Printer Setup:
- Ensure that the printer is set up correctly and has completed the initial setup process. Check for any error messages on the printer’s display.
Disable VPN or Firewall:
- If you're using a VPN or have a firewall enabled, try disabling them temporarily. Sometimes, these can interfere with the connection.
Reinstall HP Smart App:
- If the app still doesn’t recognize the printer, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the HP Smart app.
Use USB Connection (If Applicable):
- If possible, connect the printer directly to your computer using a USB cable. This can help establish a connection for setup.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Check the HP website for any firmware updates for your printer. Sometimes, updating the printer’s firmware can resolve connectivity issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
