HP ENVY 4502 e-All-in-One Printer

Why do I have to change my settings for two-sided printing EVERY time I either put my Laptop to sleep or turn it off? AND, when I go into the settings, it is set for two-sided printing, but won't give me the option to choose two-sided printing?

Hi @DocB94,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you are experiencing some frustrating issues with your HP ENVY 4502 printer settings. There could be several reasons for this problem, ranging from software glitches to incorrect settings. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the two-sided printing issue.

  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your laptop. Outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues and unexpected behavior. Visit the HP website and download the most recent drivers for your ENVY 4502 printer model.
  • Check Printer Settings: Verify that the printer's default settings are correctly configured for two-sided printing. Access the printer's control panel, navigate to the settings, and confirm that two-sided printing is enabled as the default option.
  • Check Printer Properties on Your Laptop: Access the printer properties on your laptop and check the default printing preferences. Ensure that two-sided printing is selected and set as the default option.
  • Reset Default Settings: If two-sided printing is not working despite the correct settings, try resetting the printer's default settings. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in. Turn the printer on and check if the two-sided printing option is now working correctly.
  • Software Updates: Make sure that your operating system and printer software are up to date. Sometimes, updates fix known issues and improve overall performance.
  • Reinstall Printer Software: If the problem persists, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer software on your laptop. This process can help resolve any software conflicts or corruption.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
