Hi @anandd07,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If connecting your HP 14 Inch Laptop PC 14-F1000 (2L1B0AV) to your Wi-Fi router causes the internet to drop for all devices, there could be several potential causes. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check for IP Address Conflicts

Release and Renew IP Address:

  • Press Windows + X and select Windows Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
  • Type the following commands and press Enter after each one:

Assign a Static IP Address:

  • Open Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks.
  • Select your Wi-Fi network and click on Properties.
  • Scroll down to IP settings and click on Edit.
  • Change the setting to Manual and assign a static IP address that is within your router's DHCP range but not currently used by other devices.

Step 2: Update Router Firmware

  1. Check for Router Firmware Updates:
    • Access your router's web interface by entering its IP address (usually something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) in your browser.
    • Log in with your username and password.
    • Look for firmware update options in the router settings and update to the latest version.

Step 3: Reset Network Settings on Laptop

  1. Network Reset:
    • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
    • Scroll down and click on Network reset.
    • Follow the prompts to reset your network settings.

Step 4: Check Power Management Settings

  1. Disable Power Management for Wi-Fi Adapter:
    • Open Device Manager (Press Windows + X and select Device Manager).
    • Expand Network adapters, right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter, and select Properties.
    • Go to the Power Management tab.
    • Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
    • Click OK.

Check the next steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @anandd07,

Please find the next set of steps below.

Step 5: Change Wi-Fi Channel on Router

  1. Change Wi-Fi Channel:
    • Access your router’s web interface.
    • Navigate to the wireless settings.
    • Change the Wi-Fi channel to a less congested one. Channels 1, 6, and 11 are often good choices for 2.4 GHz networks.

Step 6: Disable IPv6 on Laptop

  1. Disable IPv6:
    • Open Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.
    • Right-click on your Wi-Fi connection and select Properties.
    • Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
    • Click OK.

Step 7: Router Settings

Check Router's DHCP Settings:

  • Ensure your router’s DHCP server is enabled and properly configured.
  • Some routers have settings that limit the number of devices that can connect.

Enable Quality of Service (QoS):

  • If your router supports it, enable QoS to prioritize traffic and manage bandwidth better.

Step 8: Check for Interference

  1. Reduce Interference:
    • Ensure your router is placed in a central location and away from other electronic devices that may cause interference.
    • Avoid placing the router near cordless phones, microwaves, or other Wi-Fi networks.

Step 9: Use Windows Network Troubleshooter

  1. Run Network Troubleshooter:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
    • Click on Additional troubleshooters.
    • Select Internet Connections and run the troubleshooter.

Step 10: Factory Reset Router (If Needed)

  1. Factory Reset:
    • As a last resort, perform a factory reset on your router. This will reset all settings to their defaults, so ensure you have a backup of any important settings.
    • Access the router’s web interface and look for the factory reset option.
    • Alternatively, there may be a physical reset button on the router.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, there could be a more complex compatibility issue between your laptop's Wi-Fi adapter and the router. In such cases, contacting the router's technical support or your ISP for further assistance may be necessary.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
