@Docrat2, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you would like to perform a factory reset on the printer as the wireless icon is missing.

Note: If an ethernet cable is connected to the printer, the wireless feature will be disabled.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks, but I contacted HP the same day I posted and was connected to a support technician. We spent an hour trying to fix it, gave him remote control of the computer, etc…Nothing worked. In the end, he shipped me a new printer, as mine was still under warranty. Set it up last night. 🤷‍♂️ Seems ridiculous that something like this happens, but judging by the number of posts, it’s a pretty common occurrence, one that HP should investigate and fix.
