Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have an out of warranty HP 3520 All-in-one printer.  I am receiving the 0xc19a0042 error message about a malfunction with print head.  I have run all of the troubleshooting steps online and arrived at the "needs service."  I would like to know:

1) How do I go about scheduling this?

2) What are the steps to get my printer repaired?

3) Can I get an estimated cost of the repair (since it is out of warranty)?

I am trying to decide whether to buy a new printer or get this one repaired and the website, while helpful for troubleshooting, has almost no information about the repair process.  Any advice would be welcome.

Respectfully,

Anthony

Hi @loco3,

Thanks for posting your question in the HP community. A very Good Day to you. 🙂 I understand that you need assistance with an error regarding the printer and are looking to get it replaced or serviced. I’ll be delighted to assist you with this.

You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. Stupendous effort and brilliant troubleshooting from your end to diagnose the issue correctly. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

If you’ve tried all the steps from this document and concluded that it requires a service I will give you the required information on how to go about doing it.

First off, printers are replaced or upgraded and not repaired or serviced.

You could contact HP phone support to get the printer replaced. Steps:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.

These printers are reconditioned printers with a 90-day warranty.

If you plan to buy a new printer with a year’s warranty, please contact http://store.hp.com  Please select the country and follow the on-screen instructions. Usually, a phone number gets listed to contact HP shopping.

I genuinely hope you get a new printer that stays healthy and works great for a long time to come.:)

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.  🙂

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. 🙂

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.  🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead.

Thank you @DavidSMP for your attempt to help.  I had actually already filled out the contact form in my earlier troubleshooting, but I cannot call during their business hours.  I will be honest, in 2017, it feels almost insulting for customer service to only be available during set business hours and only be available over the phone.  The online troubleshooting guides are good, and the availability of people like you in the forums is awesome, but ultimately you can only guide me to a solution, not actually provide it.

After reading your post, and making double sure that I had already hit every step you listed, I dismantled the printer, found the printhead part number, and ordered a new one ($15).  That took me about 15 minutes, and it will be here this weekend, so my problem should be solved.

Anyway, I appreciate your efforts, but I definitely feel that HP is behind the power curve on customer service.

Respectfully,

Anthony
