8600 Printer Display Not Working

HP Recommended
HP Officejet Pro 8600

My printer display has gotten what appears to be dimmer over the last months and today its just gray.  It's not black like its not powered on, it's gray like its over exposed or dim.  This failure seems to be pretty common when looking on the internet for solutions to correct it.  I have unplugged the unit and repowered it, I have it plugged into a wall socket and still nothing.

THIS CONDITION RENDERS THE PRINTER USELESS.

I contacted your CS Department and they told me to do the "fixes" I had already tried and with no success.  I was told I can get a "refurbished" unit in exchange for $178 USD ....

What is going on with the quality of the HP products ?  A simple part that costs less than a dollar renders the ENTIRE printer as scrap ?  The CS person couldn't even offer to send me a new display.  When I asked to speak to his "boss" he explained he was the only person I could talk to ....

I'm sure the odds of getting a concened HP employee to respond to this E Mail is not very likely but I'm sending this anyway.  Listed below is my contact information ... please feel free to contact me and I will be more than happy to discuss this issue.
