Please help me understand if HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 supports two-sided scanning from the document feeder. In http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/4AA6-4026ENUC.pdf appears the line: "Breeze through multipage documents with two-sided scanning and a 50-page automatic documentfeeder (one-pass two-sided scanning in 8730/40 models)."  How does one scan a stack of two-sided documents on an 8710?

For comparison, consider how the 6700 handles it.   A) On the computer open “HP Scan.”  B) Select “Automatic Document Feeder.” C) Place a checkmark next to “Scan Both Sides (duplex).”  D) Place up to 20 originals in the automatic document feeder.  E) Click “Scan.” (The ADF feeds the originals through the scanner.  On the computer an HP Scan pop-up states: "Prepare to scan the remaining pages of your double-sided document.  To scan the other side of the pages 1. Remove the pages from the output tray.  Do not change the page order.  2. Without turning the pages over, rotate and place them back into the document feeder according to the placement markings on the device. 3. Click OK when ready.") F) After placing the rotated originals into the document feeder click “OK.” (The HP Scan software stores the scanned document on your computer.)

The datasheet information is in the small print:

3 The 50-sheet single-pass, two-sided automatic ADF is available with 8730 and 8740 models only. The 8710 and 8720 models have a 50-sheet mechanical two-sided ADF

While the "single pass" duplex scanning is not available on the 8710, it should provide automatic duplex scanning.  The sheets should pass into the printer, print one side, flip and scan the second side.

Hi,

While the HP Officejet 6700 offer manual 2 sided scanning, meaning to manually flip the scanned page, the Officejet Pro 8710 offer automatic 2 sided scanning, meaning the device automatically scan both sides of the originals.

Hi, I'm having the same issue, but don't see a place in the screenshot below where I can specify that it's duplex printing.

Can you help please?

Thanks

Oliver

Not at all sure you can designate the full settings using the HP Smart Application.

If you are using Windows, try using the Printer Software or a Windows program such as:

  • HP Scan Extended – Exceptional standalone free scan program:  Single, Multiple scans, image and PDF scans, Auto-Crop!  Download, save, and install to use.

or

  • NAPS2-- Not another PDF Scanner – free standalone program scans PDF files and image(s) as .jpeg or PDF file(s).  Includes OCR.  Download, save, and install to use.

Not the answer?

Start a new post of your own and ask the question.  Provide all details:  Printer Model, Operating System and version, description of the issue.
