THE HP8740 CUTS OFF AN INCOMING CALL AFTER 2 RINGS. I WANT TO HOOK UP AN ANSWERING MACHINE BUT IT ISN'T ENOUGH TIME TO GET THE ANNOUNCEMENT SAID. ANY IDEAS?

Hi

If your fax machine is answering all the incoming calls after 2 rings try setting the rings to answer to 6, you can do that from the printer control panel:

On the printer front panel Go to Setup >> Fax setup >> Rings to answer

Set it to 6 rings

If you want to connect a TAM to the fax machine, check the below document in HP website.

Select the telephone line type you are using and in the next web page choose setting up fax with answering machine.

Hope this helps,
