i have a hp laserjet cm2320nf mfp. I downlaoded the 319mb driver file for windows 7 32bit from hp website. However, the solution center does not install. I tried on two newly formatted PCs and i still have this problem. I checked the extracted folders and there is a folder for solution center. Even if i select custom/advanced setup, it doesnt give me the option of choosing if i wanna install solution center. What do i do?

It sounds like you are either getting no error messages during the install attempt, or are not getting the error message listed in the Subject header of this post  (you are re-using this old thread).    If that is the case, you might get more responses by starting a New Post with a Subject describing the problem.

SOLVED!      S O L V E D      SOLVED!

First, The Rant
I have an OfcJet 7780 and have put in well over 30 hours trying to fix this via web searching and repeatedly calling HP's NoHelp HelpDesk. They finally told me that Windows' TWAIN was broken and to reinstall Windows!!!!!! This support desk was in the USA. I would have expected that kind of crappy response from India. The Peter Principal is alive & well and living at HP!

Here's What I Did...

Some of Praveen_David 's instructions (dated 2011-03-20 on page #1 of this post) had to be slightly modified for the v14.0 software I downloaded (for my OJ-7780). But they were the brains behind the solution that worked for me.

My PC is Win-XP @ SP3

I am running v14.0 of HP's downloaded software update. I then expanded/unzipped it to my local hard drive.

[1] Go to the root of the directory where you expaned the download. Let's call mine C:\OJ-7780 .

[2] Go to directory   C:\OJ-7780\Setup\Scan

[3] Right click on the file  SCAN.MSI  and select menu option: REPAIR . (Mine just closed out upon completion without any confirmation/msg).

[4] Go to directory   C:\OJ-7780\Setup\BPD_SCAN .

[5] Right click on the file  BPD_SCAN_CARRIER.MSI  and select menu option: REPAIR . I got an err msg saying it neded to locate the MSI file, so I clicked BROWSE to point it to its directory (step #4) & clicked OK (Then, the routine just closed out upon completion without any confirmation/msg).

[6] Go to Command Prompt, and make sure you Run it as Administrator or are logged in as an administrator.

[7] Change to directory  C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\BIN

[8] Now type the following command (caps not necessary)   REGSVR32 HPQEBPD2.DLL  and press the  ENTER key. Be sure you have a space between REGSVR32 and the file name. If it doesn't find the file, search for it on your PC and use that directory for step #7.

[9] Reboot your PC and smile at the magic :smileyvery-happy::smileyvery-happy:

Many thanks to Praveen_David 's post (dated 2011-3-20 on page #1, this post) for steering my in the right direction and saving me additional exhaustive time.

Bingo!

I am a cranky old IT Pro and have screwed with this so long I was about to do an "Office Space" on my HP J4580. Now it works like the day it was first installed.

Mucho gusto

Genius.  I have been looking for a solution to this problem for a week.  I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 and have just movedto a new comuter with windows 8.  I downloaded the software from the HP website and got the error message.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no success.  For those who have downloaded -

1. C:\Users\"users name"\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS2D55 is where I found the files listed.

Thanks again for finally solving my problem.

Thanks for your detailed steps... I've finally been able to fix the problem on my system too.

Note to HP... it should not be this convoluted!

Your step 6 did it for me.....been working on this issue since 9/28/13...worked with HP Support Agents 3 times....collectivly about 7 hours.....unable to get Officejet6500 to Scan from Solution center.  After I ran the reapirs (not sure if these steps had any impact on the fix because I had run the Repair on the 2 files previously without resoling the issue).......so when i saw your step #6...and saw it was something new that I had not tried....I ran it...after re-learning myself how tonavigate afrom a Dos prompt to the BIN directory....ran the string....got a Sucessful registered popup....which appeared to me to be promising...after a re-Boot...I can scan.

One thing that I have not been able to resolve is......I no longer have a shortcut....DOCUMENT TO FILE.   I have no way to create\Modify or change shortcuts.  Appears this scanning area has an incomplete Install....and with all I have been thru the past 2 weeks...I surely will not do an uninstall....re-install......

Hello denmarfl,

I'm glad you have resolved most of this issue that you're facing. I will be happy to assist you with getting the option of "Document to File" back within HP Solution Center. Would you be able to check within the list of installed on your computer if "O.C.R. Software by I.R.I.S 14.0" is listed.

Looking forward to your response.

Thank you,

I worked on behalf of HP.

1) HP Imaging Device Funtions 14.0

2) HP Officejet 6500 Series 709n Series

3) HP Solution Center 14.0

@denmarfl,

Do you have the download of the printer software and drivers saved on your computer? Also, what is the operating system that your computer is running?

Thank you,
