Have replaced black ink cartridge, still does not print even after cleaning printhead repeatedly & aligning

What printer model?  There are hundreds of Photosmart models over the last decade.

Got your message in my earlier post...I forgot to note model # which is 6520.  I tried all your suggestions  (very helpful), but it looks like the printer is headed for repair or replacement!
