Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After a paper jam in the printer, the black would not print. Performed print head clean several times and attempted alignment but it failed because the black only had a few faint line on the alignment page. I attempted to clean the mesh with rubbing alcohol per some you tube videos, that also has not helped. Opened new cartridge (stupid because now it is wasted) and it still won't work. Should I assume the print head is damaged beyond repair and move on? If so, are there any reasonably priced current printers that use the 564 XL ink cartridges?

Thanks for the post. 

 

I understand that your printer is not printing in black after a paper jam. 

Kudos to you for trying a lot of troubleshooting steps on your own.

How is the printer connected to your computer? USB or wireless.

 

If possible please connect your printer to your computer using a USB cable. 

Download the firmware for your printer from www.hp.com/drivers

Install the firmware on your printer. (Just run the downloaded firmware on your computer while the printer is connected.)

If the issue persists, refer to Solution 6 mentioned in this HP Article

Even after trying all the steps suggested in Solution 6, if the printer does not print in black. 

Please contact our phone support for any service options available. Solution 8 in the article.

  • Open link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/
  • Enter Product number or select to auto detects
  • Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
  • Scroll down and click on HP contact options - click on Get phone number.
