CM1415 fnw BLACK scans and copies

Laserjet CM1415 fnw
OS X

In trying to resolve a paper jam issue, I took the covers off the printer, which involved removing the scanner/copier assembly. Now all my copies and scans are one big black smudge.

I've plugged the FFPs back in as follows:

SCANNER RECEPTICLE - FFP plugged in with the blue side facing the word SCANNER

ATD MOTOR – FFP plugged in with the blue side facing the opposite of the side where ATD MOTOR is written.

The service manual doesn't indicate which way they should go and I feel like I've tried all possible combinations. Help!

P.S. I'm running OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite if that makes any difference.
