HP Scanjet 2300c or 3500c Series - Set up the TMA

Some HP scanners support the HP Scanjet Transparent Materials Adapter (TMA) for scanning 35 mm slides and 35 mm negatives (HP Scanjet 2300c and 3500c series only).

Set up the hardware

The TMA is located inside the scanner lid.

To connect the TMA cable to its port on the scanner

    1. Unplug the scanner from the wall outlet or surge protector.
    2. On the back of the scanner, find the round TMA port, which is the second port from the left.
    3. The TMA cable is attached to the TMA light source inside the scanner lid. Holding the TMA cable by its free end, align the connector so the arrow is on the topside.
    4. Gently insert the connector into the TMA port.

Do not force the cable into the TMA port. Forcing the cable can bend or break internal pins.
