Can I use HP3800 cartridges in a HP3600 printer?

HP Recommended

Can I use the following toner cartridges in a HP 3600n:

    - Q7581A

    - Q7582A

    - Q7583A

Q6470A is black, and this one CAN be used in both the 3600 and the 3800.

I know that Q6471A - Q6473A are specified for the HP 3600.

The color cartridges for the HP3800 are different. They are Q7581, Q7582 and Q7583.

The Q758* series are good for 6000 prints, while the Q647* series last 4000 pages.

Pricewise, the 3800 cartridges are cheaper per page.

Currently, I have the Q758* cartridges in my HP3600.

The printer does print, and the prints look fine!

However, the screen keeps saying "Genuine HP supplies designed for 3800".

Should this bother me?

Will this damage my printer?

Thanks for your reply!

Hi,

The package should tell you a list of compatible printers. But based on this, they use same toners:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.

However, the official statements on the packages says that these cartridges are for the 3800. These statements do not help me.

I think they are usable in the 3600 also. They fit, they print, but the make my 3600 printer show the message that they are made for the 3800.

Is there anyone who knows for sure that I can use them in a 3600?

Anyone who uses them in a 3600?

Or a technician from HP who knows that they are the same as the cartridges for the 3600? (except that they have more toner in them)

Cheers.

Hi Wageningen!

I was given a set of Q7581A, Q7582A, Q7583A unopenned cartridges that were formerly used in a LaserJet 3800... I am runnning a Laserjet 3600 and was asking myself the exact same question you posted here.

Except for the  "Genuine HP supplies designed for 3800" message, did you experience any printing issues with the high yeld Q75... cartridges?

Thank you for your help!

Luc
