Can I continue to use the printer without a color cartridge if I am only printing in black and white?  Or will I need to have a full color cartridge installed at all times even to just print black and white?  I am thinking of buying this printer but don't want to waste money on color cartridges if I don't have to.  Thanks!

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about HP Officejet 4500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - G510n and you want to if this printer can be used in single-cartridge mode.I am happy to help you with this.

  • You would need the color cartridge for initial setup and align the printer.
  • Once alignment is successful you can use this printer in single-cartridge mode.

I hope it helps and if you feel I have answered your question and concerns,

Please mark this post as an Accepted Solution and Kudos would also be appreciated.

Cheers.
