I marked this topic as solved but clearly it isn't. Can the designation of solved be changed or do we need to create a new topic?

May as well keep this one open as the posts keep coming. I still do not have a solution for my second 8600 with the same issue as above. The first one works fine on its own using a wireless setup to the router and updates automatically. The second one never sees the internet though I can print to it wirelessly.

Hi nutwood;

  • Have you try with all the Norton suite off?  there are other securty applications that can created this issue other than  such as anti virus and Ad blockers in other words any application that have the permissions to block access can create this issue.

  • Make sure that Windows firewall is not on either?
  • Make sure that the th

Hard reset

While the printer is ON

Unplug the cable from the back of the printer, them from the power source

Wiait 30-1minute and reconnect in the order priorly mentioned.

If that did not work update the post I may have other steps to for you to follow actually I will share them with you in the interest of not making wait.

Hope this helps!

Roberto, that worked once for me, but my printer keeps failing to connect to the network.

is there any update on a fix for this?

Hi Roberto

You cannot disable NIS in one go but I turned off firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware etc. I also turned off the pop-up blocker in IE9 and set Privacy to "Low". I didn't mess around with the security settings which are default at present as there are too many of them.

Tried the power cycle you recommended but it did not help.

It would be useful to know what servers the printer is trying to access, both for ePrint and for obtaining updates. If I knew the address I could try putting this in as a trusted zone in my Internet Explorer setup and also in my router.

Best regards

Colin

For the record, I am unable to get the printer to connect to the server (to check for updates or for ePrint) FROM THE PRINTER.

So at least in my case the issue has nothing to do with whatis running on my PC.

I can't seem to understand why HP has a problem with a service they provide. I just got my 8600 and have I to deal with these problems. These problems should have been worked out before they send it out to the end user. How about some help with these problems so we the end user can use the product instead wasting our time dealing with it. ePrint is the whole reason I bought this printer in the first place and not having to figure out some tech problem.

Hi there ReefKeep2

This is one of the most if not the most complete list of troubleshooting steps you can take for any problem related to ePrint,

 ePrint and Print Apps require access to establish connections out to HP servers via ports 80, 443, 5222 and 5223 TCP

Folow the steps on this list and let me know the outcome;

Hope this helps!

Hi scott

Please read the last link to see is that helps in your case I think it may be something to do with your network configuration or security please consider making sure that the ports mentioned of the prior post, are fowarded (open).

Kind regards;

Thanks Roberto for this information. What I have done in th mean time was set a static IP address outside my DHCP range of address's and to set my primary  DNS to 8.8.8.8 the secondary to 8.8.4.4. Every thing started to work like it should. What do you think of this fix, let me know if should change it, Thanks Bill
