Cannot make Envy 4520 print on one side. Two-sided printing on menu says Off.

I think there was a recent Windows update.

Hello, @mcruicks – Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for reaching out! I’d like to help with the printer issue!

Going through your post, I understand that you are facing issues while printing one-sided after a recent windows update. It looks like the issue could be with the print drivers.

We can easily fix this issue by a clean printer install. Here are the steps:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL61222/mp-147801-1/EN4520_Basicx64_1122.exe to install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!

Good luck 🙂

Thank you for helping me reinstall my printer.  Perhaps now I'll be able to choose to print either on one side or two.

However, I now cannot connect to my wifi using my new SSID and password because the old SSID and password are firmly in place on the printer.  I find no option to change the SSID and/or password.  I changed those two settings several weeks ago and someone at Belkin took me through the steps to change them on my printer, but now the old settings are back on the printer--and I am given no option to change them!

Did you run the Wireless Setup Wizard from the front panel to input your new SSID and password?
