Communication Error?

HP Recommended
LaserJet 1320
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My LaserJet 1320 isn't communicating with my pc for some reason. It fails the HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.0 test.

I've tried everything I can think of to resolve the issue, including reloading the drivers, changing the USB lead and trying four different USB ports on the computer etc.... The printer is listed correctly in Settings and shows up in the Device Manager.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated please, thank you

Is the printer showing in a ready status with no errors at the control panel?

Can you print test page from the printer control panel?

If you can print test pages but do not communicate with the PC then the formatter might be defective.

If you have any availability of testing the printer with a different PC preferably running Windows 8.1 or lower that would help isolate as to whether it's a PC problem or a printer problem.

Hint, sometimes having a friend with a notebook PC can be a good thing.

Thank you for the reply and the suggestions.

After wasting a lot of time I decided to reinstall Windows and the printer is working fine again.
