Deskjet 2540 All in one

Hi Guys,

 

Could really do with some help.

 

I have installed the Deskjet 2540 and when I go to print, the printer will print about 3/4 of one line, then nothing for a few lines, then another line then nothing etc. As an average, approximately 9 lines out of 40 will get printed. I have tried printing both PDF and Word. Is this an alignment issue? The lines that are printed are in the correct place.

 

I also have enough ink.

I understand you are having print quality issues on your HP DeskJet 2540 printer. Don't worry, though, as I have few steps which should help to resolve the issue,

 

Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Please remove all the ink cartridges and then perform a Hard reset on the printer.

* With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

* Remove USB cable, if present.

* Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

* Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

* Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

* Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test document and check if it works.

 

Print a  test quality page and check if it works.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you to uninstall the printer and then install the full feature software

 

Let's try these steps here:

 

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Restart the PC

14.) Now download and install the full feature software, using this link.

Hi,

 

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately none of the steps your provided have sorted the problem. The printer is pretty much brand new (it was unused for quite some time and so out of warranty) and has just been installed in this computer. I have also tried to print a test quality page but with the problem I described, it only print 5 lines of it! Pretty poor quality for such an 'all seeing all doing' printer!
