bernicemc wrote:I still have problems, and hope I did the patch correctly. The 3 dll's I did were the 3 that showed at the very top of the patch. I can align the cartridges with no problems. However when I go to print the light on the printer keeps flashing and it acts like it is going to print but does not. I have to look at the printer for jobs to print and delete the job as it says error. I then get a blank page to feed out when I push the button on the printer that is flashing. I know not to print a test page, but that does not seem to even matter. I have removed the printer several times and then added it back and the driver re-loads. My printer is a HP722C. Part of the patch seems to be working as the computer does find it. My OS is Windows Home Edition 64. Before I did the patch I was not able to do anything with the printer, but it just won't print a document, as I have tried to from Word and Notepad with the same results, blank paper. What else do I need to do, as I have been thru all the comments several times and still don't know how to accomplish what so many people have done, (their printer is working) I even went and purchased a new USB cord for the printer, but when I connected it nothing worked, so I put the other one back and got the results stated above. This is driving me insane. What are the names of the dll's so I can check I used the correct ones? Can anyone tell me what else to do.
For the Deskjet 722 that you have the only patch file you need is hpvdb720.dll. A blinking light would indicate an issue with the printer. Try printing a test page as shown here and see here for information on debugging blinking lights.

"First make sure the driver for the printer is installed. Log into the computer with an administrative account. "
Thanks, but as far as I can tell, my Window 7 64 bit doesnt have a driver installed for the HP 722c and everywhere I look on line I cannot find a driver . HP's site doesnt offer a windows 7 driver and even if I choose a Vista driver, it says it is already on my computer.
I would like to use your patch, but I cannot find a driver file to patch the work around to...
Thank you for your help and advice.

The patch only applies to the printers listed. What is your printer model? Are you using 64 bit Windows 7? Let me know, I may be able to do some testing.

The Deskjet 720 driver is delivered through Windows Update. Click on Start, Devices and Printers, Add a Printer, select the proper port, Windows Update then select the HP (not Hewlett-Packard) Deskjet 720c.

@jeff9555 wrote:Can you give me step by step instructions as to where to copy the patch using
explorer.
The patch files should be copied to the C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3 directory. You will need to do this from a user that has administrative capability.
The easiest way would be to open the directory where you unzipped the patch, then open another explorer window and navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3 directory. Now go to patch directory, select the three patch files and drag them into the C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3 directory. You will probably be prompted at this point with a UAC warning, click that it is OK.

Flymar01 wrote: mine is a c4680 photosmart. vista 64
OK, I downloaded the full featured C4680 driver from HP and installed it on a VMware Vista 64 machine. I do not have a C4680, but I installed the driver and put the port as my wireless Photosmart Premium c309a. It did print fine for a test page and also a few pages printed from my browser.
It appears you have some different issue. I would suggest posting a new thread with plenty of details of your system (e.g., how is the printer connected) and any error messages you see. The thread here is for a particular error that causes the spooler to crash in 64 bit systems when using some particular HP host based printers.

Just wanted to let you know that I got printer and solution center working after a repair install of vista 64, Kind of slow cleaning it up, but for right now I will take that . After while, I might have to a complete sys restore. Let you know how things go.
