ENVY 7645 printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I think I am going to return my HP ENVY 7645 All-in-One printer.  I have wasted hours downloading software and drivers from HP over and over again.  I can make a color copy, but it will not print in color.  I think that it is a bad model.  I have read that many other users are also unable to print in color and no solution seems to be helping anyone to their satisfaction, i.e. so that their printer will start printing in color.  Has someone solved this or do you advise that I return it?

Thank you for helping me, 8lives.   I greatly appreciate it.

Nope, my firmware is not the latest one, which you listed.

Instead, my status report shows that I have NSM2CN1537AR

How would I go about downloading the latest version?  Hopefully it will kickstart the color printing capabilities.

Here is the link to the lastest firmware.

I successfully downloaded firmware NSM2CN1715AR with your link.  The printer still won't do a color print.

Interestingly, the status report shows a red/yellow/blue stripes where it indicates ink levels, but no color when I print.

Any other ideas?

Can you check the Color option in the 7640 printing preferences under paper/quality.

On the screen "HP ENVY 7640 seriesPrinting Preferences"  --> "Paper/Quality", the only options are:

Tray selection

Paper Source:  "Main Tray"

Media: "Plain Paper"

Quality Settings: "Normal"

Then, under "Advanced" --> "Printer Features", there is also nothing that pertains to color.

Returning this color printer that won't print in color is feeling like the only good option.  I am 4+ hours into trying to get it to do this basic function.  Ugh!

Any other ideas or did I not look in the right place?

Did you install the full feature software? > link

At least six times.  Any help with clearing it all out from my computer's memory prior to returning the printer?

HP Recommended

No, just uninstall the HP software.
