Hi ARROW-SHELLY,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I understand the exclamation light is on and there is no display.

I will be happy to help you.

Make sure there is no damage on the power cord and that it is connected directly to a wall outlet.

The printer shouldn't be exposed to any electric or magnetic field.

I would do a hard reset on the printer.
While the printer is still on, disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer and wall outlet,

wait 10 seconds and connect the power cable to the wall then the back of the printer.

Turn the printer back on again.

Did anything happen prior to this issue? (paper jam, power outage)

Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
Have a wonderful day!

Not meaning to hijack a question, but we are experiencing the exact same issue. The Exclamation light is lit and the printer does nothing, does not register connection to the computer over USB connection either.

Like the OP, we changed toner, did the plug pulling and reconnecting. Not seeing anything related to troubleshooting this light anywhere on the Internet so far.

The printer worked fine on Friday, but not when we got to work this morning. Nothing changed in the configuration, the printer just stopped working. No power issues were reported over the weekend.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dennis

Hi DPARKER1969,

I understand you are having the same issue.

I will be happy to help you.

Check for any paper jams inside the printer.

'Paper jam' Message Displays on the Control Panel.

Remove and reinsert the toner and the paper.

Are you using Genuine HP Toners?

Hope this helps.

Same here, tried everything so far, no paper jam. Nothing on the control panel, just the Orange Exclamation light and zero response from the printer. Same situation, it was working perfectly Friday 3/14/2014 then on Monday morning when arriving in the office was showing only the light.

I appreciate the suggestions so far, but these are pretty standard suggestions from the HP website which have been tried already. Looking for something more specific to the light as well. There is nothing I can find in any documentation so far that mentions this light and what it means when it comes on for this model of printer.

Thanks again,
Dennis

Hi ARROW-SHELLY,

Sorry, that you are still having the same issue.

The error could mean there is a issue with the toner, paper jam or even the door is open.

Usually though with no display it would be a power issue.

Try even moving the printer to another outlet in another room to see if this is the problem.

If you are still having issues then disconnect the USB and fax cables from the printer and power reset the printer again.

Try and print a hardware self test from the printer if it goes to a ready state.

Select the setup button/main menu reports/config report.

Did the error light go away?

Did the self test print?

Are you using Geniune HP toner?

Hi - I'm having the same issue.  The printer was working fine a couple hours ago, but now there's an orange exclamation mark and the display screen is blank.  I've tried powering the printer off, unplugging it, unplugging the USB cable, moving to a different outlet, etc -- all of the suggestions in the thread above, but nothing has helped.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi CharleyR,

Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that the printer's display is blank and the exclamation mark is lit. You have tried all the troubleshooting and are still experiencing the same issue.
I will be happy to help you.

I checked into this further and have a couple of other suggestions to try to see if we can resolve this issue.

Try another power cord. (monitor power cord is the same)
