I submitted the below on September 11th as part of a reply to a previous issue with envelo printing. I have not received a response:
"Hi,
I have a problem with the functionality of printing on 6 /3/4 envelopes with the 6978. The left side of the envelope is cut off when printing from a pdf file. I did not have this problem with the 7520. I bought this printer with the assurances that this would work for me and it does not.
Is there a way to attach a document so as to show you what I am dealing with here? (The Insert/Edit File Image does not accept a PDF file.)"

Hello @Redeagle999,
This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are having issues when printing envelopes. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
You could do a screen shot and paste it into Paint and then attach it.
I checked the specifications for the printer and it does support the 6 3/4 size.
Source: Printer Specifications for HP OfficeJet Pro 6900 Printers.
I have provided a document for printing envelopes, please take a look at it to see if it helps: Printing Envelopes.
Make sure you are removing all the paper in the paper tray and just loading the envelopes. Also, set the correct paper size on the printer's control panel.
Here is the manual for printing on envelopes on page 24: Officejet 6978.
You can click on the "Accept as Solution" if the issue is resolved and the "Thumbs Up" for my effort. Please keep me posted. Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply. Whether or not the 6978 will print on 6 3/4 envelopes is not the issue here. I know that the 6 3/4 envelope is selectable from the types of media that can be used with the printer.
The real issue is the useable space which can be printed. As you suggested I tried doing a screeb shot and pasting it into this message. However that does not work. I don't get a "paste" option.
How can I attach a file? I don't see an attachment icon on this communication space.

Hi @Redeagle999,
Click on the icon that looks like a mountain and browse to the saved picture and add it to the reply.
Try creating the envelope in a different format. If you have Word I would suggest using it.
If you are still having issues, try creating a form: Creating Custom Paper Sizes.
You can try a generic driver, just to rule that out:
Run the Add a Printer Wizard from Devices and Printers and add the generic driver HP Officejet PCL3 Class Driver. Try printing the envelope again.
What application are you using?
Thanks!

I;m using Windows 10. Also, I don't have a picture/image. I took a screen shot and pasted into a Word docx and a .pdf, either of which are accepted by the insert/edit image option. (Also, as previously noted, I also tried to paste it into this message but no go.)

Hi @Redeagle999,
Try creating the envelope by the following steps:
In Word, Click on Tools, select Letters and Mailing/Envelopes and labels, the envelope box will open, in the envelope tab enter your address, click on Options, click the Printing Options tab, you will need to change the Feed to Auto, it is likely set to Manual. Check the feed method to make sure it is set correctly.
Let me know if that prints correctly.
Thanks!

Hi @Redeagle999,
Try printing an envelope in word to see if it prints correctly: Printing Envelopes in Microsoft Word.
If it prints properly then it may be a setting from the application that you are using to print the PDF from or you may have to select the envelope size in the print driver. Let me know what application you are using.
Thanks.

OK. Thanks again. Here's the deal: if I want to print an address and return address on a 6 3/4" envelopes using a Word 2007 file this would be the answer I guess. However, I am printing graphics on the left half side of the envelope, not much different than if I were printing on a regular letter-size document: no addresses. The old saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" applies here in order to get the idea across for you. My application for envelopes is not the standard usage. I print images as a part of my business. Therefore, I keep asking if there is a way to provide you with an image file so you can actually see what I am asking about. If I had an email address I could attach it but I understand the reluctance to provide that. Stalemate!

Hi @Redeagle999,
I understand what you are trying to do. I still don't know what software you are using to print from, though. If the envelope prints from Office, then the driver is installed properly for the printer. It may just be the settings in the print driver and application that need to be adjusted.
Thanks!
