HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I turned my HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless A909G on to scan a document. I got an Error message B880610C. The little screen on the printer goes blue and gives me that message, then the screen goes white and tells me to turn off and on again the printer/scanner. It does this over and over. Can anyone shed light on this issue?

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer series - A909 and when you tried to scan a document, there was an error code B880610C. The printer screen turns blue and gives the error code. Then the screen turns white and directs you to power off the printer and then restart it. This cycle continues.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • Does this error code appear only while scanning or also while printing?
  • Is the printer connected via USB or wirelessly?
  • Is the printer able to make a copy?

Meanwhile, I did some research and suggest you to perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

Now please try to scan and check for the results. If the issue persists then please refer to my private message to know how to reset this printer.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂
