Welcome back to the HP Community! @vinylzappa,

I wanted to stop in and help with your question about the maintenance needed for ink cartridges that have been store for a long time and just opened, for your Deskjet F4180. I would personally just try installing the ink cartridges and try printing. If you see any issues from there, then we could address them as they come.

Here are some documents that can help install the cartridges, align, and clean them if needed:
