HP 1102w - Printer is offline
01-13-2011 10:25 AM
Hi there,
I followed the instructions carefully when I installed the HP 1102w on my Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.4).
- used the HP installation CD to install the driver in my Mac with the USB attached to the printer
I tried printing a document via wifi, but the printer indicated that the 'printer is offline'. The funny thing is, when I used the USB feature, it works, but via wifi it doesn't.
What can I do from here?

Did the CD indicate that it was for use with 10.6? Tell me about your network - router brand/model, encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc) and ISP type (DSL, Cable, etc).

The CD does not indicate wether or not it is compatible with 10.6. But the compatibility of the product does state that it is compatible with 10.6.
I am using AirPort Extreme Base Station (7.5.2) on WPA/WPA2 security. MAC address is not enabled. I am using cable as my ISP.
In terms of the software firewall, I did allow the 'printeragent' for incoming/outgoing needs.

Let's reset the printing system:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
