HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

During initial setup of the printer (right out of the box) we keep getting a "setup cartridge damaged"error. How to get an undamaged 951 setup cartridge?

Hello, @Jazz42too - Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand that you are having trouble setting up the Officejet 8610 printer as you are getting “Setup cartridge damaged error”. Is the error pointing to any specific cartridge? Let me know.

Alternatively, I found a wonderful document which will help you fix this issue. Go to http://hp.care/2pd6TDK and perform the steps from 2 -6.

If the issue still persists, you need to contact the HP phone support to get the setup cartridge replaced.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂

It indicates that it is the Magenta cartridge that is damaged.

Hello, @Jazz42too

If the steps suggested in the document I shared did not help your case, then I am afraid that the cartridge is really damaged and is unusable. Unfortunately, we cannot purchase the setup cartridges from the stores.

I am sending you a private message with further instructions on hoe to get the cartridge replaced. Please check the mailbox icon at the top right corner of this screen to access your inbox.

Let me know if that helps!

Cheers 🙂
