I have a HP C6180 everything worked fine until I installed Roxio 2009! Since installing the latest version of Roxio I started having problems with HPCUE! I have uninstalled all the HP software and the issue goes away, but the machine is then no longer usable since there are no drivers. I reinstalled the the latest driver and on startup receive the following message HPCue has stopped working! Close the window for a soultion This refers me to the suport software and river page which i have already addressedThe error log posts the following:
Faulting application hpqSTE08.exe, version 184.108.40.206, time stamp 0x457ce7be, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a7a6, exception code 0xc0150014, fault offset 0x00076386, process id 0x1548, application start time 0x01c9684653bf7112.
During the install process the following errors were generated
Failed to connect to server. Error: 0x800401F0
Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: 32 Bit HP CIO Components Installer. Product Version: 1.0.0. Product Language: 1033. Installation success or error status: 0.
Application C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Product Assistant\bin\hprblog.exe (pid 3720) cannot be restarted - Application SID does not match Conductor SID..
The print spooler failed to verify printer driver package HP Photosmart C6100 series for environment Windows NT x86. Win32 system error code 2 (0x2). This can occur after an operating system upgrade or because of data loss on the hard drive. The print spooler will try to regenerate the driver information from the driver store, which is where drivers are saved before they are installed. No user action is required.
When I open the printing preference page color advanced printer services also under features i get the following error Unable to performoperation Since HpCue is not functional
Support had me remove all the HP software from the startup except for HP digital imaging hp all-in-one Series it thntried to reinstall photosmart essentials through the Mui which is in a bad location
On reboot the issue remained

I've had the same problem for nearly a year. It started after installing Roxio Easy Media Creator Suite 10. I have done everything short of reformatting the drive and reinstalling everything. (This may be the best...although unproven...route to follow based on the hours and hours I've spent trying to eliminat this problem while still keeping the software operable.) I uninstalled, manually and automatically cleaned the registry of HP and Roxio entries, and searched and searched the internet. However I'm not sure it's a Roxio problem. It could be an HP issue or even a Microsoft issue. But in any case, IN MY OPINION HP HAS BEEN INEFFECTIVE AT SUFFICIENTLY RECOGNIZING AND RESOLVING THIS ISSUE. In fact I think they are ignoring it. The only reponses I've seen are to disable the Cue service, preventing HP software from starting in the startup folder, and other such nonsense (which I believe seems to disable some or all of the functionality of the software....that's never made clear). Needless to say, I like the funcationality provided by the HP Digital Imaging Monitor and most functions work (that Status function does not) but am sadly sadly disappointed in the quality of HP's software but more so the responses (or should I say non-responses) that contain a REAL solution. Makes me thing about the next time I buy a printer... Can you tell I'm not happy?
HP...Do you have a real solution? I'd be more than happy to retract my statements above....

Do any of these steps look familiar?
Step 1: Disable Windows Image Acquisition(WIA)
1.From the Window Desktop, click Start, and then click ControlPanel. The
Control Panel will open.
2.Double-click the Administrative Tools icon. The Administrative Tools
window will open.
3.Double-click the Services icon. The Services window will open.
4.Double-click the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) icon. The Windows Image
Acquisition (WIA) Properties (Local Machine) windows will open. (Ok)
5.On the General tab, click the drop-down arrow in the Start-up Type box and
select Disabled. (Disabled)
6.Click Stop. A window will open with a message stating the service is being
found. When the message closes, verify the ServiceStatus displays Stopped.
Repeat this step if necessary.(Clicked Stop and it stopped)
7.Click Apply, and then click OK. (Ok)
Now, check for the functionality of the All-in-one. If the issue persists, refer the below steps.

Step 2: Manually run HP Digital Imaging Monitor
The Digital Imaging Monitor must be running for the scan to feature to
function.The Digital Imaging Monitor normally displays in the system
tray in the bottom-right corner of the computer screen, which is next to
the time. The Digital Imaging Monitor is ready when a check mark
displays on the icon. This can take some time after startup to complete
the initialization and for the check mark to display on the icon.
Run the digital imaging monitor icon manually using below steps. (Clicked the Icon Solution manager opened)
1. Click Start and then click Run (Typed run in the search text box Vista) (Clicked Run)
2. Click Browse (Clicked browse)
3. Verify that C: is selected in the Look in section, and then locate
and double-click Program Files from the list of folders (Navigated here)
4. Double-click the Hewlett-Packard folder (Opened)
5. Double-click the Digital Imaging folder (Opened)
6. Double-click the Bin folder (Opened)
7. Double-click the hpqtra08.exe file. (executed no display)
This will start running the Digital Imaging Monitor in the back ground.
Now try scanning from All-in-one and check the functionality. If the issue persists,
please proceed to next step.

Step 3: Manually search and run scanning file
Search for hpqscnvw.exe file
1. Click Start, Search, and then click All Files or Folders.
2. In the All or part of the filename box, type hpqscnvw.exe
3. In the Look in box, select the drive letter or the system drive; this is normally C:.
4. Click Search.
Once you find the file 'hpqscnvw', double click and check the functionality. (Works just fine) Saved a file
Step 4: Refresh the USB ports (Running Windows Vista 32 Bit)
For Windows 2000/XP
1. Save and close all programs that are currently running.
2. Click Start, select Shut Down, and choose Restart the computer.
3. Press the F8 function key, this will display the Windows Startup menu.
4. Select Safe mode.
5. After Windows loads in Safe mode, right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties.
6. Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
7. In the Device Manager Window, double-click the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
8. Right-click the device listed under Universal Serial Bus controller and select Uninstall.
9. Click OK to confirm the removal of the device.
NOTE: Repeat steps 8 and 9 until all the devices under Universal Serial Bus Controller are removed.
The USB port is now uninstalled.
Now, restart the system. The system automatically detects and reinstalls the USB port.
Check for the functionality and if issue still remains unresolved, perform the below step
Step 5: Uninstall and Reinstall All-in-one Software
From Add/Remove Programs:
1. Click Start, Control Panel and double-click Add/Remove Programs.
2. If there is an entry relating to one of the printers, select it, then click Change/Remove.
3. Follow the dialog and "uninstall all" or "remove all" as appropriate.
Some "printer software" have programs that show up here and it will be a good idea to remove those before going any further.
Note: Perform the steps after disconnecting from us and closing all other programs as the uninstallation utility has to fix the registry and clean the files from the computer.
To completely uninstall the software, run the uninstaller at level three using these steps:
1. Turn the All-in-One off and disconnect any USB/Ethernet cable from All-in-One to computer.
2. Insert the all-in-one CD-ROM into the computer. Cancel any installation windows that appear.
3. Click Start on the taskbar and then click Run.
4. In the command box type the following command and press Enter key:
(X: is the CD-ROM drive letter of that the all-in-one CD-ROM is in)
(Uninstalled all features)
