Hi

Does anyone know which component(s) typically fail in the power supply when the front panel is dead except for three red lights?

Most times the issue is the main board and not the power supply. To test open the back cover and use a voltmeter to check the points from the power supply to the main board as they should be marked with the voltages. Never attempted to repair one of these power supplies, since there is a wealth of them out there with people who have blown their main boards with trailing cable misques.

Pray that your main logic board is not yet damage. The main logic board of hp dj 1050 is already end of life..

Try to change the fuse first if it can work. The fuse is located at the main logic board.

Sometimes the fuse is blown is because you have a very bad trailling cable but the board is still okay.

You have to change them both. the fuse and the trailling cable.
