HP Designjet 500 Printhead Out of Warranty

HP Recommended
Designjet 500

I've only printed a couple of color prints, but the color printheads are now showing "out of warranty" and won't print. No problems with the black printhead. It has been years since I last printed in color. I tried cleaning the printheads, but to no avail.

The printheads have probably dried out since you have not used them.  One trick I use that sometimes helps is to heat hot water to coffee/tea temp and then place the bottom on each printhead into the hot water for about 2 minutes each.  I then blot them dry and give them a try.  Most times you can tell if the printhead is going to print where you dampen a paper towel with plain water and then press the printhead into the towel to see if you get 2 full lines of color.  If you do then odds are the head will work and if you do not, then the head needs to be replaced.  You may be in the situation where you have to replace all 3 color printheads.  Give the hot water trick a try first as on rare occasions it works.
