HP Deskjet 3636
Microsoft Windows XP

Sirs,

I bought and install the new printer HP deskjet 3636 on windows xp sp3 machine with a lot of effort (+sp3 / + .net 3.5).

Finally, I managed to print, only in gray. For every printing, a popup window showed that there was a connection problem, but the printout ended normally (printing only in gray).

After running the "HP printer doctor", the printer stops to printing anymore.

I saw that in the tab "paper/quality" the color management option boxes were disappeared every time saves the color selection.
Also in the folder WINDOWS/system32/spool/driver/color there is no any .icm file for the printer.

I have already tested the printer to another pc with linux debian 8 and the printer work ok (with colors .!!!).

any suggestion?

Hey there! @ksotiris, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand your printer will not print in color.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Are you able to make a color copy from your printer?

Clean the ink cartridges in the Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista
Load U.S. Letter or A4 size, unused, plain paper into the input tray.
Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
Open or search for the HP folder in your list of installed software programs, click the folder for your printer, and then click the name of your printer.
The HP Printer Assistant software opens.
On the HP Printer Assistant window, click Maintain Your Printer.
Click the Device Services tab, and then click Clean Ink Cartridges ().
A Print Quality Diagnostic page prints.
Examine the Print Quality Diagnostic page.
If the print quality is acceptable, click Done. You can stop troubleshooting.
If the print quality is unacceptable, click Second-level Clean when prompted to continue the next level of cleaning.
   NOTE:
If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.

Refer this article to further troubleshoot printer does Not Print Black or Color.

Let me know if this works!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂
