HP ENVY 5540 won't print - says it's out of paper (when it has paper)

Hello, my printer is possibly about 4 months old. It won't print - it says it's out of paper but it's not out of paper. I can't get it to print photos on HP photo paper (yes, it's the correct size) which seems ridiculous. Also, it won't even print from the main part of the printer with normal paper. It keeps saying to load paper which I have done and realigned a hundred times. It makes a hopeful noise then says again to load paper.

Any suggestions before I throw this useless thing from a cliff would be appreciated, thank you!!

I have had the same messages. I have given up trying to print from the photo tray as that's a complete waste of time. I have managed once or twice to print photos from the main tray but not for months now. Very infuriating.

I'm having the same infuriating problem. It seems happy to print reports, emails, alignments etc, but every time I try to print an attachment it says it's out of paper.

Not sure if this helps future people but I just had this issue where it kept wanting to print from the photo tray, but I was trying to use regular letter paper. I finally found the print settings and where you can tell it to pick from Photo, Main tray, or Auto. Tell it to auto select.
