HP Envy 4500 printer cartridge problem

HP Recommended
HP Envy 4500

I have a HP Envy 4500 printer and was using TESCO 301 colour and black cartridgesd.  The printer stopped working with an error message that the cartridges weren't compatible.  I have today purchased HP colour and black 301 cartridges and I am still receiving an error maessage stating 'ink cartridge problem, the following cartridge should nbe replaced' .  I have followed the online guidance and have switched it on and off, cleaned the connections etc to no avail.  It still won't work - any advice?
