HP Envy 7640
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Whenever I select print to photo tray in the print dialog it shows a yellow caution symbol.

When I print photo it always sends it to the 8½ x 11 tray.

I have tried hard reset, verifying and re-verifying photo paper installation in tray.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled printer drivers.

I have tried it with only 5 sheets of HP photo 4x6 photo paper and verified correctly installed.

Please help!  This has worked well in the past and there is no obvious reason the photo tray is not operational.

I need something more than the standard canned answers, I have already tried everything I could find on this board.

Thanks.

Hello,

Please click HERE to access the steps that should resolve the issue .

If issue still persists, you may have to uninstall the printer software and then re-install the same.

This was not helpful.  It told me to do everything I said I already did.  Then the "uninstall/reinstall" advice was also no help as my original email said I uninstalled the drivers and re-installed.

I don't want to sound condecending, but did you read my original report?  I browsed the forum for a solution before I submitted a ticket.

What else can I try?  Are there any diagnositics for the photo paper tray?

I know others would be very muich appreciative since this problem appears to be widespread and no solutions are posted.

Please advise.

I still have no solution.  Any way to diagnose the problem?

@Smartucus

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Envy 7640 printer. I understand that you are getting issues with Photo tray and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

  • Make sure the printer is positioned on a flat surface.
  • Push in the output tray extender.
  • Pull out the input tray, but do not remove it.
  • Remove the output tray.
  • Make sure the photo tray is seated correctly, and that the photo tray guide tabs (grey) are sliding beneath the main tray guides (black) on both the left and right side of the input tray.
  • Reinstall the output tray, then make sure the edges line up with the input tray.
  • Try to print.

Click here and refer the document to perform the above troubleshooting steps.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.
