We have 10 HP LaserJet 10-1022 printers in our business and everytime someone prints a PDF file it kills the print spooler. We have done firm ware updates and have the latest software installed.

Is there any info on this? We have an office full of 1020s and 1018s all running the same drivers, and so far 3 of them have started crashing the print spooler on their host machines. It happens on both XP Pro and Vista Enterprise 32 bit.Ive tried wiping the drivers out on the machines, but it will break again.
Im using the only drivers listed on HP site, version 20071210

Since the issue appears to be compatibility between the driver for the 1022, 1022n HP printer, I tried using a later driver in hopes of backward compatibility. Using the HP 1200 pcl driver instead of the 1022 or 1022n driver allowed printing of pdf documents with no print spooler stoppage.

I should have come back and posted this, but what I discovered is if I stripped the actual driver files out of the lj1020_1022-HB-pd-win32-enp.exe provided from HPs website using WinRAR and then manually added the printer and told it the specific driver to use everything worked fine, and is still working to this day.
This was of course done after removing the offending printer and its drivers from Windows, including from the registry.
Whatever you do, don't use the HP .exe and the little program they give you that finds and adds the printer.

I am back to report that my first user who was having the spooler crashes has started having them again when she tries to print a PDF. If you are having the issues with a 1022 I have read that the old drivers for a 6L will work just fine since the 1022 is a PCL based printer. This is not the case for the 1020, so far I have not found any other drivers which work, perhaps others have.
I read here http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?admit=109447626+1242161195575+28353475&threadId=1153974 about setting a DEP exception for the printers and the print spooler and will report findings.
In response to the question, the INF I used to set up my 1020's was HPLJ1020.inf

I am having this same problem with a Laserjet 1215. It kills the spooler on both a vista laptop and an XP tower when printing a PDF. It dose not do this all the time. I am not sure what sets it off. Can anyone recomend a way to fix this. I tryed calling HP support but all they want to do is charge $100 and ship me a refurbished machine which dose not seem to me to adress the problem.
