HP LaserJet 3030 Multifuntion - Unable to scan, but can print/fax

Hello all,

First time user, and although i think this could turn out to be an easy fix, i need some help.

Setup of the trouble PC/Printer:

  • XP Pro
  • SP3
  • HP Multifunction LaserJet 3030

The problem i am having is that the above mentioned printer is properly ( i hope) installed on the PC, the user is able to print and fax, yet when we try to scan its saying that the scanner is not connected and that i should install the software. I've tried going onto the HP site to download the drivers but i keep getting the error:

550 /pub/softlib/software8/COL7335/lj-21941-3/lj30xx_3380pcl5ewin2kxp2003-en.exe: Not a directory.

So i can't download the driver.
I have removed everything HP from the PC, re-added the printer (plug & play) numerous times. But still no scanner.

Annoying thing is that its for a remote user at work so i've got no idea if there is a hardware problem, ive been informed that there is no errors on the hardware itself.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers, samwise.
