Hi nolenc,

HP designed a quick and easy tool that diagnoses and resolves many printing, scanning, and connectivity problems: The HP Print and Scan Doctor. HP recommends that you download and install the Print and Scan Doctor any time you need to troubleshoot a problem with your HP printer from the link below.

Let me know what errors you receive?

Hello thank you for you answer.

When i launch the test tool, :

- WIA test passes, but when i try to scan with a Windows application it tells me that the paper charger is empty...

- TWAIN test fails, after 10 minutes waiting and indicating a "Busy" message box charging, it says that 'the user canceled the test'.

Hi nolenc,

Change the Ethernet cable, and let me know if you still have the same issue?

HP LaserJet Professional M1213nf MFP "busy" while scanning

hi,

I tryed with another ethernet cable without success.

Then i changed our pfsense router for an old TP LINK routeur for testing, it appears that it is perfectly working.

Could you please tell me which port(s) TCP/UDP should be opened for scan software ?

Hi nolenc,

It appears that there is an issuw with the pfsense router as it worked fine with the TP link router. You may want to try UDP Port 427.

HP LaserJet Professional M1213nf MFP "busy" while scanning

I've come accross this problem several times and sorted it temporarily by reinstalling the printer. It always returned though.

I eventually got to the bottom of it.

It affects a wide range of HP network printers and it is IP address related.

When the printer is installed on a network (wired or wireless), the router assigns it an IP address.

However this IP address can change for various reasons. The printer software will often adapt to the new IP address and printing functions will carry on as normal but the scanner software will not.

This results in the 'Scanner busy' error appearing.

To resolve the problem the printer needs to be assigned a fixed/statis IP address.

First you need to find out the current IP address of the printer and the IP address that the scanner thinks it is.

To do this you need to download the HP Print and Scan Doctor software from here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02073861

Run it and it will display an screen listing the IP addresses of both the printer and scanner.

If both addresses are different, you'll need to change the printer IP to match the scanner.

Make note of both addresses.

Open an Internet Explorer window and enter the printer IP address into the address bar and hit return.

This should bring you to the settings web interface of your printer.

Look for the network and the TCP/IP settings.

Change the IP setting from Automatic/DHCP to Manual.

Enter the scanner IP noted eatlier in the IP address boxes, followed by the subnet & default gateway addresses.

Click Save/Apply and reboot the PC.

Problem should be solved.
