I just installed my new HP LaserJet M1217 printer. I am receiving  the message "Supply memory Error" on the printer display> Installed the SW using HP Smart Install program.  Win 7 is the OS.

HP Laserjet M1217 MFP printer - Supply Memory Error

Hi kongtoy,

There is a protective plastic clip over the cartridge chip. Remove the orange plastic and it will quit giving you the supply memory error. Refer to figure 6

HP Laserjet M1217 MFP printer - Supply Memory Error

Hi HKidd,

Is this a new OEM or Remanufactured cartridge?

You have made sure that the orange plastic cover has been removed from the chip on the cartridge correct?

What happens if you put the old cartridge back into the printer?
