Product: HP41C16E (HP Office Jet 4650 )
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

 

I have just purchased a HP Office Jet 4650 . I have downloaded the recommended software via 123.hp/oj4650 to my laptop. I have successfully connected via a wifi my printer to my lap top and can successfully print a document from my laptop to the printer also I have a ipad device which I was also able to send a document to the printer and print it.

 

Now my issue is I cant seem to initiate a scan of a document on the printer and have this sent to my lap top via wifi link.

 

I previously had a hp deskjet 2510 and that was a doddle to work with my lap top all I had to do was to double click on the scanning icon on my laptop and the printer would scan the document/photograph which I put on the printer plattern. I provided me with the option of saving in any number of file formats ie gif bitmap pdf etc, also allowing me to select the destination folder in my laptop. The printer was connected with a cable to my lap top.

 

Now maybe the 4650 is more complicated and I require some extreamly simple instruction to set this  new printer up for scanning like the old trusty 2510. Can anyone give this eager 70 yr old some simple instruction to follow that I can scan and save pitures or documents in any format and select the destination to save the scan in my laptop?

Please try this scan solution:
 
HP Scan Extended

For Windows:   ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"
