HP OfficeJet 4500 G510N-Z and Windows 7 Home Premium. Always Missing Driver after Install

Sorry the post is so long...

I have installed and reinstalled the software for my printer at least 5 times.  Each time I get a message that the driver did not download properly.  I discovered that I am getting this message because Windows is looking for driver updates on the  "Windows Update" in Microsoft's update page.  I am using the printer on a wireless home network.  I have learned to double check the connection and everything is fine.  I attempted to scan for the first time yesterday and guess what?  Can't find the HP Document Manager driver and to uninstall and reinstall the printer again.  I have followed every support suggestion on the website and the drivers still don't load correctly.  Although I am not an IT wiz, I'm very capable with computers and with troubleshooting issues.

Please give me a one time solution.  I interviewd for the job of my dreams last Thursday and I can't send a thank you letter or the letter of references that was requested because of the problems with this printer. I cannot lose this job, In this market, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity!

Otherwise, I'm going to throw both of the HP OfficeJet 4500 G510N-Z I have in front of a bus or trash disposal truck!!!

Thank you in advance for your support and assistance with this matter.

Sincerely,

Becky Gommel

Solved!

HP OfficeJet 4500 G510N-Z and Windows 7 Home Premium. Always Missing Driver after Install

Hi Becky,

Follow the steps below

Step one: Clear temp directory

1. Type %temp% in the run or search for programs and files field

2. Highlight all the files in this folder, and then press the delete key to delete. If you get a message that the file is in use you will need to skip this file(s).

3. Continue with Step 2 below

Step two: Downloaded and extracted to your system:

1. Download the full feature software and drivers

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-80348-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...

2. Once the download is finished double click on the file to extract the software.

3. When the installation window opens press the cancel button to stop the installation

4. Type %temp% in the run or search for programs and files field

5. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)

6. Right click on the folder, and select Copy

7. Close that window, and all your open windows, and then in the middle of the desktop right click your mouse, and select Paste. This will move the 7z folder to your desktop.

8. Open the 7z folder you just copied to your desktop

9. Open folder Util

10. Open folder CCC

11. Run the uninstall_L4

12. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

13. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools folder under all programs

14. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

 15. Open the 7z folder, and then double click on the Setup.exe file which will be toward the bottom of the open window. Follow the on screen instructions to reinstall your printer.

Let me know if you are able to successfully install the software and driver, and are able to print & scan?

HP OfficeJet 4500 G510N-Z and Windows 7 Home Premium. Always Missing Driver after Install

I tried his solution several times and  did not work for me.  It appeared to go through the installation of the software, but when it came time to plug the printer using the USB cable, the installation didn't recognize the connected device.  But instead, plug-n-play auto-detected it, and tried to add it as a G510g-m Photosmart printer, but then couldn't find drivers for it.  The computer is a brand new Windows7 Professional laptop computer.  The printer install fine on the older Windows Vista computer.

When downloading the installation software, there was only one .exe for all OS's.

Any suggestions?

I was able to print, haven't scanned yet, it said something about WIA components, so I've still got that to do.  But it's making the connection, so I'm hoping there won't a problem with the scanning.  I think my root cause of my problem was that the install CD that was supposed to be for that printer, only showed the drivers for the G510n-z.  However, looking at the part number of the printer, it appears to actually be one of the 'g' models.  After downloading and using the 'g-m' full version of the install .exe, it did load the drivers that allowed to printer to work.  Thanks for your help.

HP OfficeJet 4500 G510N-Z and Windows 7 Home Premium. Always Missing Driver after Install

Please help, I have spent 2 weeks trying to help out a friend with this issue....  HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z keeps losing its wireless connection.  Re-install resolves the issue but only for a short while before it loses connection again.  I have resulted to borrowing the printer and attaching to my laptop to spend time researching the problem.  Both laptops running windows 7 Home Premium x 64bit.  I also lost wireless connection.

I am so glad that I found this post however on following the steps I am unable to locate the 7z folder (at step 5).  I ended up copying the whole download to the desktop and following the rest of the steps, opening the Util... Open CCC etc...  I am pleased to report that for the first time ever the printer scan operation is actually working wirelessly now and other functions seem ok however I am not sure how long this will last.  Should there be a time that I need to go through the whole process again..... please advise how I locate the mentioned 7z (example 7zS2356) file.  I will be returning the printer to my friend later this week and will need to go through the whole process again to connect the printer back to her laptop.

Hi Tel-XKR,

The 7z folder is located in the %temp% folder or (C:\Users\pcwizard\AppData\Local\Temp)
