HP Officejet 5740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've followed a few boards to try and find a fix but i can't seem to find it. My HP Officejet 5740 continually goes into sleep mode and requires me to turn it off/on in order to print. How can i resolve?

Hi @mbrienza165

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your concern and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the printer is going to the sleep mode and you are unable to disable it.

I’d love to help!

Follow below steps to disable or change the auto-off settings on the printer.

  1. In the Windows System Tray, right-click the Device Settings () icon, and then click your product name.

  2. Click the Device Settings tab.

  3. Locate the Auto-Off Console section of the screen.

  4. Click the Down Arrow next to the Auto-Off after: drop-down menu, and then select the desired Auto-Off delay time.

Do not uncheck Automatically turn off the device after inactivity, unless you want to disable Auto-Off mode.

  5. Click the OK button.
