Is there a way for me to tell the machine to scan both sides of the original?

@relliksmom

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

As I understand you want to know if the duplexing or two-sided printing can be enabled on the HP Officejet 5740,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Did you look for answers within the Linux community?

Did you know that HP Does not support Linux-based OS?

While you respond to that, here's where you may want to check: Click here

If you have windows on any other PC, here's how to enable the two-sided printing: Click here for steps.

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts,

mark my post as Accepted Solution.

And click on the Purple Thumbs up icon at the bottom of my comment.

Is that seriously your response?

"I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution"

This sentence would imply that you were going to ask me questions that would get you closer to a solution.

Instead you ask me this:

"Did you look for answers within the Linux community?

And this:

Did you know that HP Does not support Linux-based OS?"

Neither of those questions are going to get you any closer to a solution for me.

If you didn't  have an answer for me, you could have just told me HP doesn't support Linux based OS. That would have been the kinder thing to do.
