HP Officejet 8620 Error message when inserting new ink cartridge

HP Recommended
Officejet 8620

Hello, I purchased a black ink refill cartridge and I'm getting an error message that the cartridge "appears to be damaged." It is a new cartridge. It's official and not generic. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand the HP Officejet 8620 has an error message when inserting a new ink cartridge,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you attempt to reseat the cartridge and try restarting the printer?

Have you upgraded the firmware recently or after the issue occurred?

Did you check with any related HP Forum posts to resolve your concern?

While you respond to that, Here's a related HP Forums post that seems to have helped others: Click here for the steps.

Here's a link with more steps if the above doesn't help your cause: Click here

(Though the header/title may be different, the steps will help resolve your concern).

If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!
