Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello,

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8610 and the past couple weeks it has been printing my pdf files slow, also it is cutting off the tops of most words on the pdf's and changing symbols to weird things like as if it doesn't know how to print them. For instance it prints a bullet point as a box with four small letters one in each corner and prints other normal symbols as the same box. I have an ASUS computer with windows 10 on it. Is there something that can fix this? I have already gone through the printer doctor thing and it states everything is fine. Also the past couple months the printer keeps showing up as "offline" even though I know it is not and the printer acts like it is online. Although my main concern is with it printing slow and cutting off letters. I have purchased a cord to directly attach it to the computer and it still cuts off words and prints slow.

Thank you

Greetings @Bethany11,

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are facing print quality issue with your printer, where it is cutting the top half of the characters, symbols are not printing correctly and printer going offline.

Don't worry, I will be glad to help.

Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.

Have you checked the print quality by making a copy on the printer?

Are you using genuine HP ink?

Please refer to solution 3 in this HP Article. If the top of the characters is being cut off, it would be horizontal streaks and please follow the procedure in the article for improving the print quality.

However, as some of the symbols are not printing correctly, recommend you uninstall the printer software from your printer using the method mentioned below.

Uninstall the printer from programs and features from the control panel. (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)

Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it.

Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.

Click on print server properties.

You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.

Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.

Restart the PC.

Once the PC is booted to the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,

Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.

It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files, ignore them).

If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.

Restart the PC again.

Download the latest full feature driver from www.hp.com/drivers and install it on the computer.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

Let me know if this helped.

Good Luck.
