HP Officejet Pro 8610

I just put new black ink in (for the first time since set up) and now my printer will not even attempt to print. I have tried taking the printer ink cartridge out and reinstalling ink, going through cleaning print heads, etc.

I do not know what else to try. UGH.

HI @MrsMathTeacher,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I understand the frustration that you're experiencing regarding the print quality problem with your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer. I would be happy to help and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution' if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.

I understand that the printer does not print in black. It sounds like the black cartridge or the printhead could be clogged.

To help determine whether there is an issue with the cartridge or the printhead, try the steps within this guide:

Replacement printhead assemblies are only available from HP Customer Support or authorized service providers.
CAUTION: Wait until you have a new printhead assembly available before removing the ink cartridges. Do not leave the ink cartridges outside the printer longer than 30 minutes. Doing so can result in damage to both the printer and the ink cartridges.

If you have a defective ink cartridge or printhead, it might be under warranty. To check the warranty on your ink supplies, go to hp.com/go/learnaboutsupplies, select your country/region, and then review the limited warranty information for your supplies.

If the issue persists and the printer is out of warranty. You could try the solution offered in this video. Please use at your own discretion.

If you completed all the preceding steps and your product still has an issue, service the product.

Contacting HP for service in all countries/regions except Asia Pacific.
First, go to Check your product warranty to check your printer warranty status, and then go to Contact HP Support to find an authorized service dealer or to schedule a repair.
Check Warranty Status: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/wc/public/home
Repair fees might apply for out-of-warranty printers.
What you can do, is use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:
Step 1. Open link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on HP contact options - click on Get phone number
Case number and phone number appear.

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck! 🙂

I recommend to you to change to other printer models that save ink and money

I used several years HP but with this "feature" in the 8610 model I deceded to change to a Ecotank Printer
