HP Officejet Pro 8625
macOS 10.12 Sierra

I received this error message while trying to print a document; "Printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed". All ink cartriges are new HP products, the printhead has been cleaned and correctly reinstalled. After several attempts and follwing the HP truobleshooting suggestions, the problem still existis. Has anyone had a similar problem and success correcting this without replacing the printhead? The printer is approximately 2.5 years old and keep in a good clean homeoffice environment. Never had any issues until now.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Officejet Pro 8625 printer. I understand that you are getting printhead issue and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

  • Reset the printer.
  • Update the printer firmware.
  • Reseat the printhead up to three times.

Click here and follow the document to perform above mentioned steps.

(Note: Though the title of the document is different, these steps should fix the issue).

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.
